Important safety notice for hairpins and hair combs in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the proper and safe use of hairpins and hair combs (classic “bobby pins,” U-shaped hairpins, decorative hairpins with rhinestones, wedding combs with decorations, plastic and metal with teeth). Since they may have sharp ends, small removable decorations, and flexible metal parts, please follow the instructions below to avoid injuries and accidents.

Basic safety and handling principles

• Keep out of reach of small children: Small parts and decorations pose a choking hazard; the product is not a toy.
• Sharp edges and ends: Before use, check that the ends of hairpins with rubber tips/balls are intact and that the comb has no cracks or sharp teeth; do not use damaged pieces.
• Pinching and scratches: When inserting, keep fingers away from teeth and ends; do not forcefully push against the scalp.
• Dangling decorations: Long or wired decorations increase the risk of snagging; do not wear during sleep or vigorous activities.

Proper and safe use

• Appropriate size and direction: Choose length and shape according to hair volume; insert the hairpin with the wavy side toward the scalp and at an angle so it holds firmly without pressure.
• Hairstyle fixation: Do not overload one spot with multiple hairpins; crossing them in an “X” shape increases hold and reduces the need for force.
• Activities and PPE: During sports, under helmets, or when working with machinery, use flat, soft solutions or remove accessories to avoid snagging.
• Sleep and children: Always remove hairpins and combs before sleep; for children, use simple, soft solutions without small removable parts and under supervision.

Cleaning, maintenance, and storage

• Cleaning: Wipe plastic and metal with a soft cloth; for styling product residues, clean with mild soapy water and dry. Do not use aggressive cleaners.
• Maintenance: Regularly check glued decorations, coatings, and tips; tighten loose parts or replace the product.
• Storage: Store dry, separately in a case or box; this prevents bending wires and scratching decorations.

Specific health warnings
