What does 9H hardness mean?

9H hardness indicates the hardness of the glass itself. It is measured using the Mohs scale, which is scaled in the range from 1 to 10. A hardness of 1 means that the material is easily scratched by the nail (this hardness is compared to the mineral talc). On the other hand, it is not possible to dig into a material with a hardness of 10 (it is compared to the hardness of a diamond). According to this scale, teempered glass should be as hard as the mineral corundum (level 9), which you would have to make a really superhuman effort to scratch. This makes the glass an excellent security feature that protects the phones display from most bumps. It is up to 3x harder than conventional protective films, which reach a hardness value of only about 3-4H and are effective against scratching the display at most.
